So You’re Telling Me, At One Point, There Was A Chance

I thought the Patriots would win huge last night against the Giants. According to the scoreboard, I guess they did. Anybody who watched the game, however, would agree that the game was close up until midway through the second half, which is not what I thought I would be saying about the Giants’ effort in Foxboro. It started with what seemed like no offense whatsoever. The most entertaining part of the first half had to be the sequence when Daniel Jones and Tom Brady threw back-to-back interceptions. I was seriously hoping that would go on for the rest of the game. It was electric.

The Giants O-Line couldn’t handle the constant blitz from the Patriots, but the Patriots got away with it because there was instant pressure in the face of the rookie, no separation from the receivers, and no run threat without Saquon. Punt, punt, punt – except that one time that Danny dropped a Dime (nice) to Golden Tate for a 60 something yard touchdown. Between that play, and the sack fumble on Brady that was scooped and scored, some people (including myself) started to back pedal on earlier takes of guaranteed Pats victory, and even pull for the Giants a little.

The Patriots then ran away with the game. No back pedal needed. My gut is always right. You would think I would treat my gut better than I do, with its constant wisdom and all. I have the worst diet on this side of the Mississippi.

Colin Kaepernick is back in the news.

I am going back to the old way of picking games this week. Time to do a hard reset. For the guys that went to Vegas with me, a “hard reset” was putting money on black at the roulette table after losing and losing and losing. That usually led to…more losing, but we pretended like we knew what we were doing. This hard reset is going back to the basics of picks because I am getting worse as time goes, and I want nothing to do with Las Vegas this weekend. I am just now seeing light at the end of the “catching up on sleep” tunnel.

Sunday’s picks

Carolina @ Tampa Bay  (London)

Cincinnati @ Baltimore

Houston @ Kansas City

New Orleans @ Jacksonville

Philadelphia @ Minnesota

Seattle @ Cleveland

Washington @ Miami

Atlanta @ Arizona

San Francisco @ LA Rams

Dallas @ New York Jets

Tennessee @ Denver

Pittsburgh @ LA Chargers

Just a reminder Panthers fans – set those alarms before you go to sleep Saturday night. 9:30 kickoff is rough. I hope Efe Obada gets a chance to make some spectacular plays in front of the UK crowd, and that Panther nation continues to grow with some fans from across the ol’ pond. I also hope I remember to get the materials for mimosas. You hate to start drinking beer that early. My plan is to wait until at least the second quarter before the Michs make an appearance.

Stay Crispy friends!

It was the longest of Sundays
