That’s right my loyal followers. I know that you have wondered where I have been and probably worried for my safety. But fear not. I have returned from a trip with some friends, and I am unharmed. I couldn’t mention my extended vacation on the other side of the country via this website, because that would somehow have been the blog post that went viral, and everyone in the world would have known that my residence was unoccupied and my vast riches completely unguarded. You see…it was all in the name of safety and early retirement..
On a serious note – I was trash at gambling this trip, but we had a good time in Las Vegas. Anyone who knows me knows that I would much rather be in NC, and I am so glad to be back.
A few things that stuck out to me from week 5
Christian McCaffrey is the new face of the Carolina Panthers. His performance against the Jaguars was nothing short of spectacular, and the rest of the squad did enough of what they needed to do to get the win. CMC is week-by-week assuming the role as the face/superstar of the franchise, and I don’t think Cam can ever recover. Now before everyone jumps on me saying Cam is the man and head and shoulders better than Kyle Allen, I want to make a few points. Cam is obviously more talented overall than Allen. That does not mean that Cam is a better QB for Carolina. Yes he fumbles (a lot), but Kyle Allen is finding ways to get the ball to his receivers, and steadily getting it into the hands of the most dangerous threat on the team – McCaffrey. Also, since Cam came into the league in 2011, he has had three winning seasons. Three. Now I get it, when he is hot, the offense is rolling and the points are flying and Superman and all that. But when he’s not…he’s really not. His off the field personality then has to take over to keep people interested– the brands, the clothes, the hats, the LeBron-like YouTube video that he put out with the cigar and wine telling us that he lied to the doctors and was actually hurt this whole time. I’ve heard every angle of this argument, and all I can say is Kyle Allen is 3-0 this season and has delivered the only wins in recent history for the Panthers. There…I said it. What will the Panthers do when Cam is back? I think he gets his job back immediately; no questions asked. The drama is when he starts going 3-and-out, sailing open receivers, and looking sloppy. Riverboat Ron will have a real (and probably job dependent) decision to make then.
Mason Rudolph took one of the roughest hits I have ever seen in my days of watching the NFL. The limp body, the unconsciousness, it was all bad. The worst part, however, was the Steelers staff making a severely concussed man WALK OFF THE FIELD BECAUSE THE CART BROKE DOWN. They had to push the cart off the field. That kinda shows you how their season is going.
The San Francisco 49ers are the final unbeaten team in the league, and they picked up their most recent victory in dominating fashion over the Cleveland Browns. There are rumors that the Browns might start OBJ at QB instead of Baker. I understand that the defense didn’t necessarily pull their weight. I did see Matt Breida running all over them. But Baker and his side of the ball had little to show at the end of the day that they even participated. I personally hope they figure this thing out, because hyping up these new Browns is fun. Hey Nick Bosa, that celebration was cool and all, but you have to learn to let stuff go.
Thursday Night Football – Giants @ Patriots
I don’t have a lot to say about this one. I sit beside a Giants fan at work, and he wasn’t too optimistic about their chances; especially without Saquon and now a few of their pass catchers. Maybe line up Eli out wide? Coach Belichick won’t let this turn into a trap game, so expect a dominating performance from the Pats at home. I will be watching this game from my couch instead of a smoky casino, so there is one positive thing. For that, I am extremely grateful.
Here in NC, there is a little chill in the air. Some would say…crisp even. I sure hope we get there soon. I hope you all have a great Thursday, and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
Stay Crispy friends!
