I think we can all agree that was the best primetime game of the season, and it’s not even close. What a bounce-back game from the Eagles. I am having a tough time with the Thursday night picks – I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m 0-2 on Thursdays…11-7 overall. But don’t worry, we will get back in the win column here in a little bit. The picks for Sunday are below. I’m also having a tough time writing this post. Thursday was a good day of productivity at work, and then the game was exciting (and long), and afterwards I thought to myself, “Just go ahead and get some sleep now. Wake up early and write this thing.” So here we are. Happy Friday everyone! I feel about the same writing this as Mike Pereira does for every single broadcast on FOX, meaning I’m exhausted, barely prepared, and I’m just going to say some stuff and we’ll see what happens. Seriously Mike, get it together man.
The Packers jumped out of the gate with a vengeance. The connection of Rodgers and Adams looked like it could not be stopped, and I thought the birds defense was in for a long night. I also thought there seemed to be concussions everywhere. I hope (seriously) everyone comes out fine on the health front – especially Avonte Maddox, the Eagles corner who was taken off on a stretcher and moved to a hospital to evaluate a brutal injury to the head and neck.
The Pack started to miss a throw here and there, and the run game took a hit with the early loss of Jamaal Williams (another stretcher story – hope he’s alright), and the Eagles found life. Turns out, they didn’t even really need Agholor (see last blog). Alshon Jeffrey is all the way back, and made big play after big play. Anybody covered in grass stains is a star of the game. That’s just mother nature’s way of constantly reminding the viewers at home that Jeffrey gave his all for the team. Keep an eye out though, Philly fans. He might not ever wash that jersey, and the next game that you go to speak badly of him, he’ll be covered in grass stains…so he must have given more effort than you thought he did. But he was actually on the stationary bike all of that future hypothetical game. Stay woke. His efforts this game allowed Wentz to spread the ball around to other targets, and an offensive shootout commenced. I should have just taken the over and called it a day. Birds steal one on the road.
Week 4 Picks - Sunday edition
1:00
Panthers @ Texans
Kyle Allen will face a tougher defense this week, but I suspect he’ll put up good numbers and allow Carolina to be within striking distance at the end. Also, the Cam drama is off the charts. I’m all for giving the journalismers something to talk about. They gotta put food on the table. Let’s keep that going.
Pick: Panthers +4
Browns @ Ravens
The Ravens are looking get back on track after last week against the Chiefs, and folks in Cleveland are still scratching their heads about the 4th and 9 draw play. I can’t believe the Ravens are actually good. Hey Baker, keep this one close will ya?
Pick: Browns +7
Chiefs @ Lions
Professional talkers are saying this should be a close game, and some like the Lions. I started this blog because I don’t really trust those people.
Pick: Chiefs -6.5
Chargers @ Dolphins
Geez.
Pick: UNDER 43.5
Patriots @ Bills
If the game were based on spirit, Bills Mafia would have this one in the bag. Somebody has to take their first L of the season. I’m don’t like the sides on this one, because I am going to pull for Buffalo the whole way. Shock the world fellas.
Pick: OVER 42.5
Raiders @ Colts
Indy jumps out early, Raiders trash TD their way back into it, Carr throws an incredible interception at the end and Gruden is disgusted. It’s as simple as that.
Pick: Raiders +7
Titans @ Falcons
If I were actually putting up my own money, I would stay as far away from this game as possible. I hate it. I’ll give the advantage to the Falcons at home, but this thing will be ugly to watch.
Pick: Falcons ML -196
Redskins @ Giants
Danny Dimes will come down to earth just a little in this one without Saquon.
Pick: Skins ML +126
4:05
Seahawks @ Cardinals
Pick: Seahawks -5
Bucs @ Rams
Jameis and those interceptions man. I laugh every time.
Pick: Rams -9
4:25
Jaguars @ Broncos
Minshew is elite. Flacco is not. I would take the Jags outright, but the thin air in Denver might not allow for the stache to maintain its form the whole game. The equipment staff better have product and whiskey on hand at all times if the Jags want to protect the mustache and get the W.
Pick: Jags +3.5
Vikings @ Bears
I know the Chicago defense is stout, but their offense won’t allow them to take a break in this one.
Pick: Vikings +2.5
8:20
Cowboys @ Saints
Luckily the game of the week is the night game. Can Teddy Two Gloves keep that Saints moving in the right direction? Will Zeke have his first breakout game of the season? Will Jerry Jones even attend the game, or will the street musicians capture his focus and not allow him to leave until the Johnnie Walker wears off? This one will probably come down to a game winning drive at the end. Also, the best street musician that day might be next week’s head coach for the Cowboys. You never know with ol’ Jerry. Have your trumpets ready - it’s the audition of a lifetime.
Pick: Cowboys ML -140
Enjoy the games, and let me know how your team did. Also, take a minute this weekend to call a friend or family member and say hey. Don’t just say “hey.” Don’t be weird or literal. They’ll appreciate it, I promise. Stay Crispy friends!
