I Can't Wait to Get on the Road Again

The Week 4 Sunday slate put a smackdown on my picks. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but we’ll review them on Wednesday’s post. I know they’re not good though. I feel it in my bones. It’s either that or the fact that I ran a few miles last week for the first time in a while and am getting old. I like to pretend to stay fit. No big deal. I run so that I can afford the beer calories, but that scale is tipped completely over. What am I talking about?

A few things that jumped out to me from yesterday – the Raiders stole one in Indy, the Panthers are turning into a good team (without Cam) and stole one in Houston, the Falcons are still trash and should be relocated to Canada, and road teams in general had a big day.

Gardner Minshew is the antitheses of Joe Flacco, and the Jaguars came away with a victory…on the road.

The LA Rams are nowhere near as good as I thought, and let the Tampa Bay Buccaneers set a franchise record for points in a single game with 55 (and get a win on the road).

The Patriots went into Buffalo and did what no one (*everyone) thought they were going to do. It makes this section because it was an impressive defensive display by both teams, and the Bills might have set the blueprint on how to beat Brady. JUST KIDDING. IT WAS A WIN ON THE ROAD.

Random thought – I am not looking forward to the weak jokes on Twitter tomorrow about waking that guy up from Green Day. Let him remain asleep. For anyone feeling nostalgic, here you go.

Title: Wake Me Up When September Ends Album: American Idiot Lyrics: Summer has come and passed The innocent can never last wake me up when September ends like my father's come to pass seven years has gone so fast wake me up when September ends here comes the rain again

Teddy Two Gloves and the Saints won a home game last night against the Cowboys. For some reason, Zeke was non-existent in the game. No matter how many times Teddy took a sack in the closing minutes of the game to try to give a free victory to Dallas, the Cowboys could not execute, and picked up their first loss of the season. Here comes Danny Dimes for the NFC East title.

Monday Night Football – Bengals @ Steelers

Quick note on an ex-Bengal. Vontaze Burfict is complete scum. Garbage I tell you. I am not surprised the league suspended him for the rest of the season as a part of the Raiders for the head to head collision yesterday. I wish they would go ahead and ban him for life. It’s going on like 15 times now or something, and he won’t take a hint based on a fine or a suspension. He’s a maniac, and should be banned.

The current Bengals are in Pittsburgh for a division game that feels like it holds no relevance. Neither team has a shot at the playoffs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this one ends in a tie. Mike Tomlin must know that he’s coaching for his job at this point, but won’t find a way to pull away from the also winless Bengals on the scoreboard. Remember when the Steelers thought they had the perfect solution for losing AB and Bell by replacing them with JuJu and Conner? I would love for JuJu to get some touches for fantasy purposes, but you have seen me do this song and dance before (and you probably couldn’t care less about my fantasy team). You do, or should, or will one day care about my picks.  So here you go. The Monday Night Special (trademark pending).

Pick: Bengals +3.5 and UNDER 43.5

I know this was a quick one, but I hope you enjoyed. My fiancé tells me she reads all of these. I will expect a text from her referencing this section letting me know she reads the whole thing, and also how amazing and funny it is. Also, that she completely believes me when I say I’ll make millions off of the site one day. I love you babe!

Stay Crispy friends.
